- I'm not demanding anything -- I'm merely stating that 1) Shareware is
- not profitable -- that's why you get zillions of whining shareware
- authors who are shocked that the money isn't rolling in. and 2) In the
- more civilized UNIX world shareware is considered to be in bad taste,
- and freeware is plentiful. Consider Sanjay's Mahjongg program. I'm
- aware of three UNIX versions of the game -- all of them
- free.
-
- >Can you write programming code?
-
- Yes. I can (and do). And if you were more familar with the UNIX world, you
- might actually have used programs that I have helped to write (they
- are freeware, of course) If and when I complete a Newton program, it
- will be freeware too.

- But wouldn't it be better if they were freeware solutions?
-
- >Just another bad apple asking for a freebie.
-
- No. I just believe that people ought to help out society a
- little. Volunteer at hospitals, public television stations, write
- freeware, etc. I'm not demanding that other people do this -- merely
- that it would be nice if everyone did their part for society in their
- spare time.

- In your case, I would consider it a badge of honor.
